Final Fantasy XI Red Mage Guide
11. Red Mage Food
Every good Red Mage needs to eat food in order to be effective. It can make up for
deficiencies or increase your already good stats. Food is a constant drain on your wallet though so you should really consider cooking. Here are some of the foods that work best for a Red Mage.
11.1. +MP and mage stat foods
Red Mages are the weakest of all the mage classes in terms of MP and we need
every bit of INT and MND we can get. So when you are in a party you should use foods that boost these stats.
Apple Pie. MP+25, -1 AGI, +3 INT.
This will be a staple of your Red Mage Career. Early you should use these because of the boost to MP and Int and the fact that they can be bought very cheaply.
Mellon Pie. MP+25, AGI-1, INT +4.
This is like the Apple Pie except it has an extra point of Int. This is what most mid to high level Red Mages use instead of Apple Pies when Exping.
Rolanberry Pie. MP +50, AGI-1, Int+2.
This is not something you want to use regularly. It doesn’t stack and can be very expensive, so most people use it for special situations like BCNMs.
Marron Glace. MP+13%, MP Regen +1.
This is another food you will want to only use in special situations. It is somewhat expensive and it doesn’t stack but provides an enormous amount of MP and lasts for 180 minuets. It will cap off and only give a max of 85MP though.
Crimson Jelly. MP+10%, MP Regen +2, INT +6.
This is much better then the Marron Glace but much more expensive.
Roast Mushroom. +10 MP, -1 STR, +3 MND, MP Regen 2.
